Isn’t it wonderful how during the first few days and even the first few weeks of January people are wishing each other a Happy New Year? I love that as a new calendar year begins it reminds us of new starts and new beginnings. And couldn’t we all use a new beginning in some part of our lives?
Over the holidays I had a wonderful opportunity to witness a new beginning of the best and most joyful sort. My sister gave birth to my second beautiful little nephew on December 26...a full three weeks before her due date. Talk about a Christmas surprise!
During the course of the days and week that followed I helped out at my sister and brother-in-law’s house with the almost 3 year old toddler, now a big brother. Once my sister and baby nephew came home, I got plenty of baby holding time...even if it was at 11pm, 1am, 2am, 3am… so my sister could get some much needed sleep between nursing sessions.
Sitting up awake during those quiet hours of the weeee early morning and gazing into the precious face of this brand new life just beginning his journey caused me to reflect about beginnings.
While many new beginnings are exciting, welcomed, and eagerly anticipated, they still come with their share of hard work, discomfort, and feeling off balance for being outside our comfort zones. With time and persistence the new start begins to feel more familiar and new routines and habits are established. We adapt. We humans are masterful at adapting.
This reflection is quite timely as we all begin the new year 2018 together. As you continue to wish others a Happy New Year, spend a moment to consider what new beginning you are stepping into this year.
Is this the year you finally take back control of........…?
Having another to support you during those uncomfortable moments of “newness” makes your new start that much smoother. Then one year from now when we are wishing each other another happy new year, you will be able to reflect on just how far you’ve come in just one short year.
When you change the way you think and feel about something using hypnosis, you can easily change the actions which are a direct result of how you think and feel.
